New Rules for NSW Cyclists from March 1, 2016.

*From March 1 2016, cyclists over 18 must carry photo ID. If they don’t have a driver’s licence,they can get a NSW photo card, available from the RMS for $51. The changes are part of the government’s “Go Together” safety program, which will expect motorists to maintain a one metre distance from a cyclist when passing at speeds of 60km/h or less, and 1.5 metres at speeds over 60km/h.

 

New fines will also be in place for cyclists.

 

Riding without Photo ID:                       $106.00

Riding without an approved helmet:   $319.00

Holding onto a moving vehicle:            $319.00

Running a Red Light:                             $425.00
